Major W. A. Mercer requests a six-month supply of four dozen memorandum books used by the United States Indian Affairs division of the Department of the Interior.

Elizabeth C. Sloan submits her resignation as the assistant matron of the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation along with further comments on her aptitude for a different position in the Indian Service.

Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists employees who have changed positions (William B. Gray and Norman Egolf). The report includes position title and salary. 

Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists irregular employees who worked at the school during March 1906. The report includes details on compensation, position titles, race, and the number of days worked during that month.

William A. Mercer compiles a report with remarks regarding employees' efficiency, conduct, behavior, dress, health, attitude towards children, and notes on any special skills. The report also lists employees' salaries and position titles.

William A. Mercer submits a statement of cost form that lists the total amounts for subsistence, clothing, school materials and furnishings, light and fuel, miscellaneous expenses, new buildings and repairs, the value of subsistence raised by schools, and pay for regular and irregular employees for the quarter ending March 31, 1906.

F. Shoemaker, the school physician, compiles the sanitary report for the quarter ending on March 31, 1906.

Mollie V. Gaither requests a superintendent position in the Indian School Service through William A. Mercer. Mercer further comments on Gaither's request.

William A. Mercer requests authority to employ a temporary instructor of bricklaying, plastering, and cement work. Mercer states that the position has been requested for the following fiscal year but that there is a large amount of work for the next couple of months which could be done by students rather than irregular employees.

J. R. Wise responds to inquiry of former student Philip Lazore (here Lazor) to have the money he left on deposit at the Carlisle Indian School upon leaving returned to him. Wise recommends that the request be denied due to the policy of runaway students forfeiting the right to their money upon desertion.

William A. Mercer requests the Office of Indian Affairs make corrections to the list of positions and salaries for the painter position.

J. R. Wise responds to request of James Maney to return to his home.

Adaline Kingsley requests William A. Mercer's assistance in obtaining the seamstress position at the Wittenberg School. Mercer forwards the letter to the Office of Indian Affairs along with his recommendation.

Robert Shaw Oliver, Acting Secretary of War, returns papers related to the Carlisle Indian School preparing students for the United States Cavalry. Included are William A. Mercer's original plan along with comments by the Office of Indian Affairs and a final ruling by the Acting Judge-Advocate General of the Army.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that the printing department at the Carlisle Indian School can have revised proofs ready shortly for the report of C. E. Kelsey on the California Indians. In addition, the department can complete and mail the report within three days.

Correspondence regarding William A. Mercer's proposed plan to have a Cavalry troop at the Carlisle Indian School as well as the proposed legislation in both the Indian Appropriation Bill and Army Bill.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs of the death of Albert Williams (referred to here as Adelbert Williams) due to scarlet fever while on outing in Reading, Pennsylvania.

William A. Mercer requests to use the bequest of Harriet W. Taber to build a photographic gallery or art building at the entrance of the Carlisle Indian School.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs request regarding his recommendation to fill the dairyman position. Mercer notes that Norman Egolf who is temporary filling the position would be his recommendation but he is not currently eligible and that he will ask Egolf to apply for papers to take the examination.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter forwarding a letter from Fanny G. Paull in which she expresses her loyalty to the Carlisle Indian School. Paull had been transferred from Carlisle to Haskell on the grounds of "disloyalty." 

J. R. Wise forwards a proof copy of approximately three-quarters of the C. E. Kelsey report due to the size of the report. Wise notes that following the receipt of the proof the first sheets will be printed and the rest of the report will be set up for examination.

Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists new employee (Harry B. Lamason) and employee who have left the school (Elizabeth C. Sloan). The report includes position title, salary, date of departure, and reason for departure. 

J. R. Wise responds to an Office of Indian Affairs inquiry regarding the shipment of a wagonette shipped from Carlisle to the superintendent of the Albuquerque School. Wise goes through how the wagonette was shipped and ways to reduce the cost of shipment for an upcoming wagonette shipment to the Riverside School.

William A. Mercer forwards to the Office of Indian Affairs the remainder of the revised proofs for the report of C. E. Kelsey. Mercer notes that upon the return of the proofs the school will distribute the copies and forwarded.
