School Employees - Resignations

Frances A. Veitch resigns as a matron of the Carlisle Indian School if she cannot be transferred immediately as seamstress. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation and requests the Veitch's requests be complied with though not her privilege of being reinstated at the Carlisle Indian School as a matron.

Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists employees who have left the school (Annie G. Eckert and A. H. Murtoff), those who have changed positions (M. I. Zeigler). The report includes position title, salary, date of departure, and reason for departure. Additionally, Mercer forwards a resignation letter from A. H. Murtoff.

William A. Mercer references the resignation of the blacksmith A. H. Murtoff and requests a replacement with experience in the West due to the difference between the roads with in the East.

Anna F. Bennett resigns her position as a housekeeper at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation along with his plan to nominate Mae Justus for the vacancy.

Benjamin F. Bennett resigns his position as farmer at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation along with his plan to promote assistant farmer Norman Justus to fill the vacancy.

Charles M. Kennedy resigns his position as a fireman at the Carlisle Indian School. J. R. Wise forwards the resignation and notes that there is no recommendation to fill the vacancy and requests that it remain vacant.

Luzena E. Tibbetts resigns her position as a teacher at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards her resignation to the Office of Indian Affairs along with a note that he will will provide a recommendation to fill the vacancy in a later letter.

Henry Vertreace submits his resignation as a blacksmith at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation with the note that it should be accepted as tendered.

Elizabeth C. Sloan submits her resignation as the assistant matron of the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation along with further comments on her aptitude for a different position in the Indian Service.

J. R. Wise informs the Office of Indian Affairs of the continued need for Philibert Lutz to remain as a fireman at the Carlisle Indian School and addresses his rating from the Civil Service exam. Wise also addresses the resignation of Stephen Albanez as a fireman.

H. W. Leaman resigns his position as gardener and florist at the Carlisle Indian School. W. G. Thompson forwards the resignation with the note that the position be filled temporary in order to maintain the thousands of plants and prepare the hot house for the fall.

E. Corbett submits her resignation as assistant seamstress at the Carlisle Indian School due to her health. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation to the Office of Indian Affairs and requests it to be accepted.

Jesse Null resigns his position as dairyman at the Carlisle Indian School. J. R. Wise forwards the resignation and indicates that the employment of Norman Egolf is again presented to the Indian Office due to his many qualifications.

Rosa Dillon submits her resignation as assistant matron at the Carlisle Indian School.

M. S. Barr submits her resignation as a nurse at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation and requests the vacancy be filled from the Civil Service list as soon as possible.
