Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists new employee (Henry Vertreace). The report includes position title and salary. 

J. R. Wise informs the Office of Indian Affairs that James Meehan has not reported for his assignment as assistant carpenter. As a result, Wise requests that Daniel A. Reed who is temporarily employed in the position to be permanently appointed.

Major William A. Mercer submits a report that lists employees who have changed positions (Norman H. Justus and Chauncey E. Archiquette) and employees who have left the school (Benjamin F. Bennett, Anna F. Bennett, and Charles Kennedy). The report includes position title, salary, date of departure, and reason for departure.

Acting Superintendent J. R. Wise recommends that John H. Londroche, a member of Carlisle's Class of 1903, be appointed as a disciplinarian in the Indian Service. Wise forwards Londroche's application and references to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and endorses him in his cover letter.

Charles M. Kennedy resigns his position as a fireman at the Carlisle Indian School. J. R. Wise forwards the resignation and notes that there is no recommendation to fill the vacancy and requests that it remain vacant.

J. R. Wise forwards Milton I. Zeigler's suggestions for the improvement of purchasing harness, leather, shoe findings, saddlery, etc. Zeigler also discusses various tools that are not replaced very often due to their durability. The majority of the suggestions are included on the Schedule for securing goods.

Morris K. Mayer applies for the vacant farmer position at the Carlisle Indian School.

J. R. Wise requests the transfer of Henry Vertreace who was recently appointed as blacksmith due to his inability to read and write. Wise also cites the "natural antipathy of the Indian to the Negro, which is shared by our students here" as being another reason for the transfer.

J. R. Wise cites section 38 of the Manual of Examinations of the Civil Service Commission regarding the manual trades and other noneducational examinations in the case of calling for the transfer of Henry Vertreace.

Correspondence regarding a complaint made by George H. Bender, a resident of the town of Carlisle, against Harry W. Leaman, an employee of the Carlisle Indian School, regarding the purchase of a horse. 

J. R. Wise provides the second proof of the circular requested by the Office of Indian Affairs and discusses the type of paper which can be used. Wise ends by noting that the printing department students were happy to know that the office was pleased by their work.

J. R. Wise informs the Office of Indian Affairs of the reason for the delay in forwarding the attendance report of the school for the quarter ending September 30, 1905.

J. R. Wise responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding the temporary appointment of a matron and informing the Office that a recommendation for a permanent position will be made later.

Effie Moul requests a transfer to another school in the Indian School Service due to her health and lack of help. William A. Mercer responds to the request that he is in favor of the transfer and requests the position be filled immediately and with someone in good health and physique.

William A. Mercer recommends the transfer of teacher Sadie F. Robertson to the position of matron to relieve the temporary appointment of Evalyn Mackey.

William A. Mercer submits a statement of cost form that lists the total amounts for subsistence, clothing, school materials and furnishings, light and fuel, miscellaneous expenses, new buildings and repairs, the value of subsistence raised by schools, and pay for regular and irregular employees for the quarter ending September 30, 1905.

William A. Mercer informs Francis E. Leupp that he could not determine the writer of an envelope. The envelope contained a list of Carlisle employees as characters in the Book of Esther.

William A. Mercer recommends amendments to Regulations of the Indian Office focusing on Section 194 on allowing open market purchases as well as Section 454 with small property being expendable rather than going through a board of survey.

William A. Mercer provides justification for hiring Charles Sorrell as an assistant cook, explaining that Sorrell is no longer a student. 

William A. Mercer responds to the Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding the appointment of William H. Stutts as assistant farmer.

J. R. Wise follows up on William A. Mercer's request to have a male drawing teacher appointed to the vacancy caused by the transfer of Fred W. Canfield. A note from J. H. Dortch refers to Commissioner Frances E. Leupp's plan to have Angel De Cora fill the position.
