School Employees - Matrons

Richard Henry Pratt forwards a physician's certificate to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs verifying that small boys' matron, Lida B. Given has undergone surgery in Philadelphia and will need a month's time for recovery. Pratt also sends a cover letter requesting that Given be granted leave until August.

Nathaniel McKay responds on behalf of matron R. E. Wilson in response to Richard Henry Pratt's actions towards asking her to transfer to another school.

Richard Henry Pratt forwards assistant matron Roberta E. Wilson's request for a two-month leave of absence. Pratt advises the Commissioner of Indian Affairs that Wilson is entitled to the leave of absence and requests that her leave be approved and charged to Carlisle before she transfers to Rainy Mountain School.

Roberta Wilson declines her transfer to the Rainy Mountain School. Richard Henry Pratt forwards the letter and notes that Wilson asks for her leave of absence to begin on May 20, 1899 and that he hopes her declining the transfer will not prevent her from leaving Carlisle.

Richard Henry Pratt sends a telegram to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs recommending that matron Prudence Miles be granted an additional two months leave of absence without pay due to the serious illness of her father. 

Richard Henry Pratt advises the Commissioner of Indian Affairs that Prudence Miles's leave of absence with pay expired on September 7, 1899, and her leave without pay began on the following day September 8, 1899.

Richard Henry Pratt requests to be allowed to keep Anna H. Stewart on temporarily as the Sloyd teacher along with other changes to employees.

Richard Henry Pratt informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Roma Ewbank prefers an immediate transfer as an assistant matron to Cherokee Indian School unless there was an immediate vacancy at the Chemawa Indian School.

Richard Henry Pratt forwards the Office of Indian Affairs the resignation of Lida Sabin at his request and also reports the illness of Marion W. De Loss. As a result, Pratt requests two temporary positions to replace Sabin and De Loss.

Richard Henry Pratt requests various changes in salary following the resignation of Dennison Wheelock. Pratt requests that Pearl McArthur be assigned as assistant matron and that a domestic science teacher be created.

Richard Henry Pratt informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Marion W. De Loss should be transferred due to her health and need to take care of her family. Pratt requests that another individual be sent quickly to replace her as assistant matron.
