View of Wounded Yellow Robe (also known as Richard Yellow Robe), Chauncey Yellow Robe (also known as Timber Yellow Robe), and Henry Standing Bear, all wearing school uniforms. This photo was likely taken in the spring of 1884, about six months after they entered the school. 

Note: The Cumberland County Historical Society also has a copy of this photo (PA-CH1-035b). According to their information, Chauncey Yellow robe is seated at left, Henry Standing Bear is standing in the middle, and Wounded Yellow Robe is seated at right.

Studio portrait of Dexter Loco (standing), Mabel Kelcusay (sitting at left), and Rachel Checote (sitting at right).

Note: Previous cataloging interprets the handwritten caption as reading: "Dexter Loco, Mabel and Rachel." Based on this information, we believe the two women to be Mabel Kelcusay (who arrived on the same day as Dexter Loco), and Rachel Checote. Comparison with other photographs confirms the identify of Rachel, however the identification of Mabel based on the photographs is less sure. 

Note: A researcher identfied the sitters as Dexter Loco, Rachel Tsikahda Morgan (left) and Mabel Navadokieh Jozhe (right), and that they were all Chiricahua Apache.

Very large group of male and female students posed in rows on the grounds of the school. The caption identifies them as: Carlisle Indian School in 1884 Number of students 375. 

The Cumberland County Historical Society has two copies of this image: PA-CH2-001 and 10-B-19.

Photo taken of visiting Cheyenne and Arapahoe Chiefs with Carlisle students and government employees at Devil's Den at the Gettysburg battlefield. The image is dated November 28, 1884.

One person is identified only as "Kise." It is not known if this is Kise (Red Wolf) or Kise Williams. 

Studio portrait of a group of visting chiefs, including Left Hand (with his wife) and Powder Face. Left Hand and his wife are in the back row in the center at at left. Powder Face is in front row at far left. A white man, J.F. Williams is in front row, third from the left. 

A student newspaper reports the visit of a group of Cheyenne and Arapaho chiefs in December 1884 which included these people.

The handwritten caption on this glass plate clearly says Chief Big Bow 10/88. However this is not Chief Big Bow, who is captured in other photos. The relationship of the caption to this student is not known.

Ralph Brown was Eliza Bell Brown's husband.

There are no records for a student named Cyrus Fell Star (identified as Sioux). He may be Cyrus Windy. 

The Cumberland County Historical Society has at least two copies of this image: BS-CH-034 and CS-CH-079.
