National Archives, from collections of Carlisle Indian School materials housed at various archival repositories, and from a variety of published sources. This person is identified as Juan Julian in the National Anthropological Archives negative version of this image and also in one of the Cumberland County Historical Society's copies (BS-CH-006). The other copy, located in an album (PA-CH2-075b), is labeled "Augustine." But that is probably a mistake. There are other photographs of a person with that name, wearing similar clothing but distinctly a different person.
