Harry Shirley Student File

Joseph Irwin Student File

Student file of Joseph Irwin, a member of the Hidatsa Nation, who entered the school on February 23, 1890, and departed on December 2, 1895.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that Irwin was working as a blacksmith in Elbowoods, North Dakota, in 1910.

Note: Although not written on this card, a researcher has indicated that Joseph Irwin's Indian name was Flies Away.

Note: Although this file shows Gros Ventre, a member of the Fort Berthold community has indicated that this individual is actually Hidatsa.

 

William Hodge Student File

Student file of William Hodge, a member of the Klamath Nation, who entered the school on October 11, 1908 and departed on December 13, 1913. The file contains student information cards, trade/position record cards, a photograph, outing records, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, correspondence, financial transactions, and a report after leaving that indicates Hodge was living in Salem, Oregan at the Chemawa Indian School in 1914 and was living in Requa, California in 1918.

Manley George Student File

Student file of Manley George, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on August 25, 1910 and ultimately departed on December 2, 1913. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, trade/position record cards, applications for enrollment, outing evaluations, correspondence, medical/physical records, a progress/conduct card, and an outing record.

Juan J. Gutierrez Student File

Student file of Juan J. Gutierrez, a member of the Pueblo Nation, who entered the school on October 15, 1910, became an employee of the school on December 15, 1913, and then departed from the school on June 24, 1915. The file contains student information cards, a progress/conduct card, trade/position record cards, medical/physical records, an application for enrollment, an outing evaluation, outing records, and correspondence. The file indicates Gutierrez was living in Mescalero, New Mexico in 1916.

George Grinnell (Running Elk) Student File

Student file of George Grinnell, a member of the Hidatsa Nation, who entered the school on November 11, 1906 and departed on August 18, 1909. The file contains a student information card, applications for enrollment, medical/physical records, a returned student survey, former student response postcards, a trade/position record card, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, and a report after leaving indicating that Grinnell was working as a blacksmith and stockraiser in Elbowoods, North Dakota in 1915.

Stanley Edge (Wa-bash) Student File

Student file of Stanley Edge, a member of the Caddo Nation, who entered the school on October 7, 1889 and ultimately departed on June 19, 1894. The file contains student information cards, a former student survey card, and a report after leaving that indicates that Edge was working as a farmer in Binger, Oklahoma in 1913.

In school documentation Stanley Edge is also known as Wa-bash (also spelled Wa-bush).

 

Max Favel Student File

Student file of Max Favel, a member of the Colville Nation, who entered the school on January 8, 1913 and departed on October 20, 1913. The file contains newspaper clippings, trade/position record cards, a student information card, outing records, outing evaluations, financial transactions, applications for enrollment, medical/physical records, correspondence. The file indicates Favel was living in York, Pennsylvania in 1914.

Charles Yarlot Student File

Student file of Charles Yarlot, a member of the Crow Nation, who entered the school on March 31, 1890, and departed on July 3, 1897. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Yarlot was working as a carpenter in Crow Agency, Montana, in 1911.

In school documentation Charles Yarlot's name is also spelled Charles Yarlott.

 

Russell Whitebear Student File

Student file of Russell Whitebear, a member of the Crow Nation, who entered the school on May 31, 1895, and departed on April 24, 1899.  The file contains a student information card, newspaper clippings, and a report after leaving indicating that Whitebear was living in Crow Agency, Montana, in 1910.
