Moses Herring Student File

Student file of Moses Herring, a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on August 30, 1899 and ultimately departed on January 24, 1904 The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards that indicate that Herring went on three outings while at Carlisle.

Student file of Louis Herring, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on August 10, 1901, and departed on June 30, 1903.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence about an outing, and a report after leaving indicating that Herring was working as a laborer in Hogansburg, New York in 1911.

In school documentation Louis Herring is also known as Rowi.

 

Moses Gray Student File

Student file of Moses Gray, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on November 24, 1904 and departed on June 23, 1909. The file contains a student information card, a medical/physical record, a progress/conduct card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Gray was working as a lumberjack in Hogansburg, New York in 1910.

Note: Gray is listed as a member of the Mohawk and Iroquois Nations.

 

Bird Partridge Student File

Student file of Bird Partridge, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on September 2, 1901, and departed on September 7, 1906.  The file contains correspondence, a student information card, a trade card, returned student surveys, and a report after leaving indicating that he was a merchant farmer in 1910 and 1911, living in Birdtown, North Carolina.

In school documentation Bird Partridge is also known as Richard Partridge. 

 

Philip De Lorimiere (Philip Oua hon Raton) Student File

Student file of Philip De Lorimiere, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on January 14, 1898 and ultimately departed on June 23, 1904. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, correspondence, and a report after leaving indicating that De Lorimiere was working as a farmer and lacrosse making in Hogansburg, New York in 1910 and as a fireman in Hogansburg, New York in 1913.

Johnson Owl Student File

Student file of Johnson Owl, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on March 13, 1896, and departed on July 11, 1903.  The file contains a former student response postcard, correspondence, a newspaper clipping, a returned student survey, a former student survey card, a trade card, and a report after leaving indicating that, from 1910 to 1912, Owl worked as a merchant and farmer in Swagnay, North Carolina.

 

James Maney Student File

Student file of James Maney, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on July 1, 1905 and ultimately departed on June 5, 1906. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a student information card, former student response postcards, an application for enrollment, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Maney was a farmer in North Carolina between 1911 and 1913.

In school documentation James Maney is also known as Jim Maney and James A. Maney.

 

Peter Delisle Student File

Student file of Peter Delisle, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on January 31, 1893, and departed on March 31, 1893.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that in 1911 Delisle was living in Caughanawaga, Canada.
