Valentine by saying that he was greatly impressed by the Carlisle Indian School's students' performance in his opera "The Captain of Plymouth," which was performed at Commencement. Valentine thanks Edlridge for the compliment and states that he was impressed as well.

George E. Armstrong of the American Railway Guide Company writes to Richard Henry Pratt, via Herbert Welsh, to reconnect. Armstrong recounts Pratt's assistance with a party of politicians visiting a commencement at Carlisle.
