School Employees - Matrons

Carrie E. Weekley submits her resignation as the Girls' Matron of the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer provides information about Weekley as well as requesting a promotion of Frances A. Veitch to fill the vacancy.

Oella C. Munch resigns her position as an assistant matron from the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that he will submit a recommendation for an appointment in a later letter.

Frances A. Veitch requests transfer to another school as a seamstress before taking the clerk's examination. William A. Mercer forwards the letter along with his recommendation that her request be granted. He further states that he will provide a recommendation for her replacement in a later letter.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding consideration of M. Regina Bean to the position of matron. Mercer notes that he already has two names under consideration which he will send in a few days.

William A. Mercer requests that Rosa La Forge be appointed to the position of assistant matron at the Carlisle Indian School.

J. R. Wise responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding the temporary appointment of a matron and informing the Office that a recommendation for a permanent position will be made later.

Effie Moul requests a transfer to another school in the Indian School Service due to her health and lack of help. William A. Mercer responds to the request that he is in favor of the transfer and requests the position be filled immediately and with someone in good health and physique.

William A. Mercer recommends the transfer of teacher Sadie F. Robertson to the position of matron to relieve the temporary appointment of Evalyn Mackey.

William A. Mercer provides a report of employees whose probationary period has expired or will expire shortly to the Office of Indian Affairs. Mercer further indicates that Elizabeth Sloan should be relieved of her duties despite having gone beyond her probationary period.

William A. Mercer forwards the note of Dr. Richard Kingman that Elizabeth C. Sloan is under his care for treatment of malaria and a general run down condition.
