William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Chauncey Archiquette will accept the appointment of stenographer for the Osage Agency.

J. R. Wise requests to have the examination of George E. Balenti for permanent appointment to the position of teacher of mechanical drawing take place under the direction of the superintendent of the school.

William A. Mercer requests to have Susie Rayos, a former Carlisle Student, as a teacher rather than have a white teacher appointed.

William A. Mercer requests Sara Pierre be transferred to another school due to no longer performing her duties as hospital cook.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding an open shoe and harness maker position at the Moqui School and the possibility of John Archuleta being appointed if he is interested.

William A. Mercer requests that Stacy Matlock and Siceni J. Nori be excused from participation in the employees general mess.

Charles M. Sorrell submits his resignation as assistant cook at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation to the Office of Indian Affairs and informs the Office that he plans on nominating Nikefer Shoushick (here spelled Nekifer Shouchuk).

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Margaret Martin is interested in the position of laundress at the Greenville, California School.

J. R. Wise informs the Office of Indian Affairs that after receiving an appointment John Archuleta reported to the Moqui School where he learned the position was already filled. Wise requests that he be taken care of in some way.

J. R. Wise responds to Murphy Tarby's request for a position in the Indian Service. Wise provides information on Tarby's time at the Carlisle Indian School and provides a recommendation for possible positions in the Indian Service.

Sara Pierre resigns her position as hospital cook at in order to continue her nursing studies at the Lawrence General Hospital. William D. Leonard forwards the resignation and notes that Pierre recommended Carlisle student Louisa French for the position. Leonard notes that if French is not sent that the position be filled with a young unmarried…

Stacy Matlock requests a transfer in the Indian Service to a position of assistant clerk. William A. Mercer forwards the request with the recommendation that it be granted.

Correspondence regarding the cook vacancy at the Southern Ute School and the possibility of Ella Beck or Louisa French filling the position.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding the request of Stacy Matlock, assistant disciplinarian, to a position of assistant clerk in the Indian Service. The office is asking for Mercer's assessment of  Matlock's character, which Mercer reports to be excellent. 

William A. Mercer recommends Lou French for the position recently vacated by Juliette Smith in Wittenberg, Wisconsin.

Stacy Matlock submits his resignation as an assistant disciplinarian at the Carlisle Indian School. William A. Mercer forwards the resignation and notes that he has separately employed Wallace Denny has his successor.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Jackson Saunook (here Jackson Saunooke) has accepted the position of disciplinarian at the Rainey Mountain School.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that George Balenti left for Oklahoma and had decided not to enter the Indian Service. Mercer instead recommends Patrick Miguel for the position of disciplinarian at the Fort Shaw School.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that Arthur Elliot Sutton desires a position as a disciplinarian after he graduates.

William A. Mercer responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding the request of Charles C. Dillon for reinstatement into the Indian Service. Mercer notes that he can recommend Dillon as a blacksmith but that there is no open position at the Carlisle Indian School.

William A. Mercer requests instructions related to a letter from W. S. Campbell, Superintendent of the Indian School at Pipestone, and his request to have Carlisle student John Godfrey appointed as disciplinarian there. 

William A. Mercer recommends Albert Simpson for the assistant blacksmith position at the Navajo Agency. Mercer further states that Simpson desires to accompany Robert Friday who is leaving for the Navajo Agency to fill the baker position.

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that former student John Godfrey has accepted the position of disciplinarian at the Pipestone School at the reduced salary proposed by the Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
