Student file of Lewis Tewanima, a member of the Hopi Nation, who entered the school on January 26, 1907, and departed on August 31, 1912. The file contains a student information card, trade/position record cards, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, medical/physical records, letters/correspondence, newspaper clippings, and photographs. The file indicates Tewanima became world famous as a runner and won the silver medal in the 10,000 meter run at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912. He had previously come in 8th place during the marathon at the 1908 Olympics.
In school documentation Lewis Tewinima's name is also spelled Louis Tewanima. He is also known as Lewis Tewane, Lewis Tewani, and Te-wan-i-i-ma.
