Telegram from Commissioner of Indian Affairs Ezra Hayt sent to Richard Henry Pratt or Alfred J. Standing. (Hayt did not know who was at Wichita, Kansas to receive the telegram.) 

The telegram reads: "Bring on Osage, Pawnee, and Ponca children." 

Letter from Acting Commissioner of Indian Affairs E. J. Brooks to Indian Agent L. J. Miles at the Osage Agency to select five Osage boys and five Osage girls to send to the Carlisle Indian School for education.

Richard Henry Pratt provides the names of the sixteen Osage students sent by L. J. Miles who arrived on February 25, 1881.

Richard Henry Pratt provides the Indian Affairs Office with proposed text for receiving funds for educating Osage students from the Osage trust fund. Pratt notes that if he does not receive the funds for the Osage then he can place more students on outing to reduce costs for running the school.

These materials include a cover letter and Descriptive Statements of Pupils regarding 27 children transferred to the Lincoln Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the Carlisle Indian School. Those children, from a variety of Nations, had previously been sent to Carlisle. 

Superintendent Richard Henry Pratt writes to Doctor Cornelius Rea Agnew regarding the raising of funds for the school.  Pratt also discusses the sending home of about 75 pupils, and invites Agnew to join him on his trip to New Mexico.  This letter is part of a series of related correspondence which can be found using the People tags…
