Yellow Robe, Wounded

Student information card of Wounded Yellow Robe, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on November 14, 1883 and departed on July 2, 1891.

In school documentation Wounded Yellow Robe is also known as Wounded Y. Robe, Richard Yellow Robe, Wounded with an Arrow, and Garfield W. Yellow Robe.

Richard Henry Pratt responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding a request from Wounded Yellow Robe (here Garfield W. Yellowrobe) to visit his home. Pratt notes that Yellow Robe is due to return to his home in a year and therefore believes visiting his home this year is unnecessary.

Wounded Yellow Robe (here Garfield W. Yellowrobe) writes to President of the United States Grover Cleveland from his outing home in New Hope, PA requesting permission to visit his parents in Dakota Territory. Yellow Robe states that he would also like to return to Carlisle for an additional six years.

Richard Henry Pratt returns the letter of Wounded Yellow Robe (here Richard G. Robe) who requested from the Office of Indian Affairs to be returned home. Pratt refers to an Office of Indian Affairs letter that indicates students who arrived in the middle of a school year should stay the full school year. Pratt notes that a reply from the Office…
