John Tatum Student File

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a trade/position record card, and a report after leaving that indicates Brown was working in a harness shop in Winnebago, Nebraska in 1911.

The file contains a returned student survey, a news clipping, and a report after leaving that indicates he was working as a carpenter, painter, and wheelwright in Cut Meat, South Dakota in 1911. Other records show he enrolled at the school on October 6, 1879 and departed on June 19, 1882. He reenrolled at the school on October 10, 1886 and departed on June 14, 1887.

Hugh (Running Horse) Student File

Student file of Hugh, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on October 6, 1879 and departed on June 23, 1880. The file contains a student information card.

In school documentation Hugh is also known as Running Horse, Sunka-wa-kan-oyah-ka, and Clarence Whirlwind.

Note: We believe this student is identified as Clarence Whirlwind in the copy of the photograph of the first male students in the Richard Henry Pratt Papers at Yale University.
