Investigation Into Enrollment Eligibility of Mescelero Agency Students

Date
May 6, 1911 - October 4, 1911

These materials include correspondence regarding students from Bent, New Mexico whose eligibility to attend Carlisle was questioned by Charles F. Pierce, Supervisor of Indian Schools. Pierce claimed the students had access to public schools and should be ineligible to receive an education at a government school. After an investigation, the public school near their home was deemed inadequate, and the students were allowed to be re-enrolled at Carlisle.
