Bessie Standing Bear Student File

Student file of Bessie Standing Bear, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on September 12, 1913 and departed on August 31, 1918. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, a medical/physical record, an outing record, financial transactions, a federal financial aid form, and correspondence. The file indicates Standing Bear was to remain in her outing home in Oak Lane, Pennsylvania following the close of the school in 1918.

In school documentation Bessie Standing Bear's name is also spelled Bessie Standingbear and Bessie Standing-bear. The spelling Bessie Standing Baer is likely a typo.

Note: Bessie Standing Bear is the child of former Carlisle student Henry Standing Bear.
