Note: Members of the Lumbee Nation as recognized today were generally referred to as Cherokee Indians of Robeson County during the early 20th century, which is why the old documentation from the school identifies this student at Cherokee.

Student file of Stephen Smith, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on February 2, 1884, and ultimately departed on June 4, 1894. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicates Smith was working as rail road laborer in San Carlos, Arizona 1910 and 1911.

Oswald Smith (Na-cha-no-tethla) Student File

Student file of Oswald Smith, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school November 4, 1886, and departed on March 26, 1894.  The file contains a student information card, two returned student surveys, and a report after leaving that indicates Smith was serving as a U.S. Indian Scout at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in 1911.

In school documentation Oswald Smith is also known as Na-che-no-tethla (also spelled Nah-chi-no-teth-la).

 

John Clark Student File

Student file of John Clark, a member of the Lumbee Nation, who entered the school on September 7, 1911 and departed on October 14, 1911. The file contains medical/physical records, a student information card, and an application for enrollment.

In school documentation John Clark's name is also spelled John Clarke and John W. Clark.

Henry Blatchford Student File

Student file of Henry Blatchford, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school December 25, 1900, and ultimately departed on August 4, 1910. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, a returned student survey, former student survey postcards, medical/physical records, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Blatchford was farming in Odanah, Wisconsin in 1911 and working as a laborer in Odanah, Wisconsin in 1913.

Gilbert Pusher (The Pusher) Student File

Student file of Gilbert Pusher (The Pusher), a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on February 2, 1884 and departed on October 8, 1893. The file contains a student information card, a report after leaving, and a returned student survey that indicates Pusher was living in San Carlos, Arizona in 1910 and working as a laborer in Camp Verde, Arizona in 1911.

Daniel Phillips Student File

Student file of Daniel Phillips, member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on December 11, 1899 and ultimately departed on August 27, 1901. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards and a report after leaving that indicates Phillips was living in San Carlos, Arizona in 1910.

In school documentation Daniel Phillips is also known as Daniel S. Phillips and Dan. S. Philip.

 

Festus Pelone (Lizard) Student File

Student file of Festus Pelone, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on February 2, 1884 and departed on December 28, 1894. The file contains correspondence, student information cards, a former student survey, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Pelone was living in San Carlos, Arizona in 1910 and worked as a night watchman for the Rice Indian School in 1912.
