Ellis Childers Student File

Student file of Ellis Childers, a member of the Creek Nation, who entered the school on January 22, 1881 and departed on June 17, 1884. The file contains a student information card, a newspaper clipping from the Sherman Institute, correspondence, financial transactions, and legal documents regarding Childers' departure date from Carlisle. The file indicates Childers was the Speaker of the House Warriors of the Creek Nation in 1914.

Moses Carson Student File

Student file of Moses Carson, a member of the Assinibione Nation, who entered the school on June 19, 1891, and departed on June 27, 1900.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving that indicates that, in 1910, he was serving as a day laborer in Poplar, Montana.

 

Howard Metoxen Student File

Student file of Howard Metoxen, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school in September 26, 1913, and departed on June 12, 1917.  It includes student information cards, an outing record, outing evaluations, correspondence between him and the school, correspondence about him, an application for enrollment, a federal financial aid form, and a former student response postcard.

In school documentation Howard Metoxen's name is also spelled Howard Metoxin.

 

Samuel Checote Student File

Student file of Samuel Checote, a member of the Creek Nation, who entered the school on January 22, 1881, and departed on June 3, 1884.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that, in 1912, Checote was working in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, as a farmer and lease clerk.

In school documentation Samuel Checote is also known as Samuel J. Checote.

 

Walter Standing Elk (Badger) Student File

Student file of Walter Standing Elk, a member of the Cheyenne Nation, who entered the school on January 24, 1907 and ultimately departed on September 14, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a progress/conduct card, and an application for enrollment. The file indicates Standing Elk came from Lame Deer, Montana.

In school documentation Walter Standing Elk's name is also spelled Walter Standingelk. He is also known as Walter Elk and Badger.

 

Cloud Bird Student File

Student file of Cloud Bird, a member of the Assinibione Nation, who entered the school on April 15, 1890, and departed on September 3, 1894.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving that indicates that, in 1910, he served as a rancher in Frazer, Montana.

 

DeWitt Wheeler Student File

Student file of DeWitt Wheeler, a member of the Assinibione Nation, who entered the school on March 1, 1907 and departed on October 25, 1909. The file contains a student information card, correspondences between Wheeler and the school, an outing record, a news clipping, a medical/physical record, an application for enrollment, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicates Wheeler worked as a painter in Akron, New York, and in Cartersville, Montana in 1911.

James Bell Student File

Student file of James Bell, a member of the Creek Nation, who entered the school on January 22, 1881 and ultimately departed on December 31, 1891. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards that list two outings.

In school documentation James Bell is also known as Jimmie Bell.

Note: Students Eliza Bell and James Bell were siblings. 

 

Frank Thomas Student File

Student file of Frank Thomas, a member of the Cowlitz Nation, who entered the school on August 9, 1894, and departed on June 27, 1899.  The file contains a student information card indicating that Thomas went on four outings while at the school, and was associated with both the Puyallup people and the Cowlitz Nation.
