The first page opened with a poem titled “Do We All?” followed by an article, “Do You Want to Get Rich?” about the value of saving little things. The next article, “Dr. Jackson at Our Missionary Meeting,” described the work of Sheldon Jackson among the Metlakahtla boys at the Sitka Industrial School in Alaska. It continued on the fourth page. Page two opened with an article, “On an Ocean Steamer,” that described Robert McFadden’s trip through Spain. Clarence Three Stars’ (Sioux) letter from the Pine Ridge Agency contained Christmas news. There was a report of the death of Mrs. Campbell’s father who had been trampled by a horse at a gathering in Lancaster, followed by several short items regarding newspaper subscriptions. The third page contained several small news items about students and staff that included the announcement of the birth of a baby girl, Richenda, to Richard (Cheyenne) and Nannie (Pawnee) Davis, the resumption of regular boys’ drill now that the school building’s completion freed up the gymnasium, the change from natural gas to electric lighting, completed roof repairs to buildings damaged from the recent cyclone, and Capt. Pratt’s remarks at Prof. Woodruff’s talk about the merits of natural gas. Page four continued the report of Dr. Jackson’s visit that included the news that he gave a baby canoe and carved spoon made with a jack-knife to the school’s museum. Then came an article about Henry Ward Beecher’s experience shoeing a horse called “Advantages of Looking and Seeing,” followed by a letter from Cleaver Warden (Arapaho) that described settlement issues in Oklahoma entitled “What an Old Carlisle Boy Thinks of Oklahoma.” The final article on the page was the “Enigma.”
