The first page opened with a poem, "Do the Right, Boys," followed by a letter from Richard Yellow Robe, entitled "An Indian Boy's Experience: Written by Himself as a Composition and Read at our last Month's Exhibition" about his escape from the battle in which Custer was killed and his subsequent enrollment in the Carlisle Indian School. Page two began with a letter from Alice Fletcher entitled "How some of our Returned Omahas and Winnebagoes are Getting Along at Home." In it she reported on former Carlisle student Noah Lovejoy's marriage to Hampton student Susan Burt. Then came Thanksgiving news, the Union Debating Society's report and other news items. Page three included various news items including English speaking-only progress, building improvements, walkway preparations for winter and the Girls' Literary Society proceedings. The fourth page featured a letter from "Ernie Black, from his Home at Cheyenne Agency, Ind. Ter." that reported about former Carlisle students who returned to the Agency, followed by an article "What One Hour's Reading Every Day will do for a Person, extolling the virtues of reading daily.
