John Welch Student File

Student file of John Welch, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on October 12, 1909, and ultimately departed on December 14, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, medical/physical records, applications for enrollment, outing evaluations, financial transactions, a federal financial aid form, a progress/conduct card, a trade/position record card, an outing record, and correspondence surrounding his training and service in a naval corps during World War I. The file indicates Welch was stationed at the U.S. Naval training station at Norfolk, Virginia in 1917, on the USS Zuiderdijk in 1918, and was on furlough in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1918.

In school documentation John Welch's name is also spelled John Welsh.

Note: Mary Welch and John Welch were siblings.
