Jefferson Smith Student File

Student file of Jefferson Smith, a member of the Hidatsa Nation, who entered the school on June 7, 1898 and ultimately graduated in 1911, departing on June 21, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, medical/physical records, trade/position record cards, returned student surveys, news clippings, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Smith was working as a store clerk in 1912 in Elbowoods, North Dakota, was living in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1914, and was living in Elbowoods, North Dakota in 1915.

In school documentation Jefferson Smith is also known as Jefferson B. Smith.

Note: Although this file shows Gros Ventre, a member of the Fort Berthold community has indicated that this individual is actually Hidatsa.
