The file contains correspondence, an outing record, a student information card, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct record, a medical/physical record, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating Whirlwind was living in Rosebud, South Dakota in 1910 and a housewife in Wood, South Dakota in 1911.

In school documentation Hattie Whirlwind is also known as Hattie C. Whirlwind, Hattie Charging Whirlwind, and Kate Red Blanket. She has two married names: Hattie Schmidt (Mrs. Andrew Schmidt) and Hattie Black Horse (Mrs. G. Blackhorse).
