The file indicates Ryan attended the Belvidere School in Belvidere, New Jersey in 1909 and 1910 while out in the country and was working as a farmer and fisherman in Menemsha, Massachusetts in 1912 and as a steamfitter in Gay Head, Massachusetts in 1913.
