Bessie Johnson Student File

Student file of Bessie Johnson, a member of the Karuk Nation, who entered the school on September 17, 1905 and departed on June 20, 1910. The file contains student information cards, medical/physical records, a trade/position record card, an outing record, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, correspondence, news clippings, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Johnson was married and took on the name Bessie Johnson Ahlgren while living in Sawyers Bar, California in 1911.

In school documentation Bessie Johnson is also known as Bessie A. Johnson. Her married name is Bessie Johnson Ahlgren.

Note: Although documentation in her file lists Bessie Johnson as Klamath, a researcher has indicated that she is actually Karuk.
