Bertha E. Hawk (Bird Woman) Student File

Student file of Bertha E. Hawk, a member of the Hidatsa Nation, who entered the school on June 26, 1904 and departed on June 21, 1909. The file contains student information cards, a medical/physical record, a progress/conduct card, correspondence, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving indicating Hawk was a housekeeper living in Elbowoods, North Dakota in 1910.

In school documentation Bertha E. Hawk is also known as Bertha Hawk and Bird Woman. Her married name is Bertha Whitebody (Mrs. Julius Whitebody), also spelled Bertha White Body.

Note: Although this file shows Gros Ventre, a member of the Fort Berthold community has indicated that this individual is actually Hidatsa.
