Jacob Smith Student File

Student file of Jacob Smith, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on September 17, 1899, and departed on October 24, 1901.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and a report after leaving indicating that between 1910 and 1911 he was working at Indian schools in Cherokee, North Carolina, and Genoa, Nebraska, as a carpenter and assistant engineer.

Student file of Louis Tinker, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on September 26, 1884, and departed on August 17, 1885.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that Tinker was farming in Bartlesvilles, Oklahoma.

In school documentation Louis Tinker's name is also spelled Lewis Tinker and Louis Finker.

 

Alex Tallchief (Hunkahhoppy) Student File

Student file of Alex Tallchief, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on February 26, 1881 and ultimately departed on August 17, 1885. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards and a report after leaving indicating that Tallchief was living in Fairfax, Oklahoma.

In school documentation Alex Tallchief's name is also spelled Alex Tall Chief. He is also known as Hunka hoppy.

 

Mitchell Smith Student File

Student file of Mitchell Smith, a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on August 30, 1899, and departed on June 24, 1904.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that Smith was working as a laborer in Hogansburg, New York in 1911.

 

Duffia Smith Student File

Student file of Duffia Smith, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on July 1, 1905, and departed on April 3, 1907. The file contains a student information card, an application for enrollment, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Smith was studying cooking at the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1911.

Richard Rusk (Tah-sa-lah) Student File

Student file of Richard Rusk, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on October 18, 1891, and departed on July 5, 1898.  The file contains a student information card, a newspaper clipping, correspondence, former student response postcards, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Rusk was working in real estate in Hominy, Oklahoma in 1914.

In school documentation Richard Rusk's name is also spelled Richard Rush. He is also known as Tah-sa-lah (also spelled Tasahlah).

 

John Morris Student File

Student file of John Morris, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on August 20, 1893, and departed on October 18, 1898.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Morris was working in a shop in Caughnawaga, New York in 1911.

Student file of Ute Shell, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on January 29, 1900.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that he was a farmer in Cherokee, North Carolina, in 1910.

Student file of Granville Rogers, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on September 21, 1899, and departed on June 22, 1904.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence related to a legal issue, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Rogers was farming in Wynona, Oklahoma in 1910.
