Daniel Varner Student File

Student file of Daniel Varner, a member of the Puyallup nation, who entered the school on August 27, 1892, and departed on March 29, 1894. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Varner was working as a carpenter in Tacoma, Washington in 1910.

Note: Other records indicate he married fellow student Lillie Arquette in 1894, although that is not who he was married to when he corresponded with the school in 1913. 

 

Joseph Craig Student File

Student file of Joseph Craig, a member of the Puyallup Nation, who entered the school on July 7, 1896 and departed on July 3, 1897.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that Craig was working as a blacksmith on the Puyallup reservation in 1910.

 

John Arquette Student File

Student file of John Arquette, a member of the Puyallup Nation, who entered the school on July 7, 1896 and departed on July 8, 1897. The file contains a student information card, a news clipping, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicated he was working as a painter in Olympia, Washington in 1910.

Note: Students James Arquette and John Arquette were brothers. 

In school documentation John Arquette's name is also spelled John Archette. He is also known as Jack Arquette.

 

James Arquette Student File

Student file of James Arquette, a member of the Puyallup Nation, who entered the school on July 7, 1896 and departed on July 14, 1897. The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that he was working as a Blacksmith in Tacoma, Washington in 1910. 

Note: Students James Arquette and John Arquette were brothers. 

 

Naomi Merkel (Kohten) Student File

Student file of Naomi Merkel, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on November 4, 1886, and ultimately departed on March 7, 1898. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a position record card, and a report after leaving indicating Merkel was a housewife living in Rosebud, South Dakota in 1915.

In school documentation Naomi Merkel is also known as Kohten (also spelled Koh-ten) and Naomi Kohten (also spelled Naomi Koh-ten). Her married name Naomi Rames (Mrs. J. L. Rames).

Helen Kimmel Student File

Student file of Helen Kimmel, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on September 19, 1909 and departed on May 17, 1911. The file contains a student information card, a newspaper clipping, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, an outing evaluation, an outing record, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Kimmel was a housewife living in Valentine, Nebraska in 1913.

Beatrice Morton (Ki-ah-tel) Student File

Student file of Beatrice Morton, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on November 4, 1886, and departed on November 4, 1895. The file contains student information cards and a report after leaving indicating Morton was a housewife living in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1910.

In school documentation Beatrice Morton is also known as Beatrice Kiahtel (also spelled Beatrice Kaihtel) and Ki-ah-tel. Her married name is Beatrice Yuzos (Mrs. Allen Yuzos). 

 

Katie May Student File

Student file of Katie May, a member of the Wichita Nation, who entered the school on September 13, 1908, and departed on June 20, 1913. The file contains a student information card, letters/correspondence, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, outing evaluations, financial transactions, outing records, and a progress/conduct card.
