The first page opened with a poem titled “Look Up!” followed by a report that described, “Our Christmas?” and detailed the holiday events celebrated at the Indian School that included Santa Claus’ visit, who filled students’ hats and stockings with fruit, nuts and candy, and concluded with a description of a turkey dinner. Page two opened with an account of “The Girls’ Literary in the New Chapel,” that featured a quartette, a statuary, and Clara Faber imitating a “real little negro girl,” followed by “Almost A Fire,” that gave the exciting report of a fire in the girls’ dormitory which was immediately doused after the discovery of flames that destroyed one of the closets. Page three included many small news items that included reports about Dr. Rittenhouse preaching the first sermon in the new chapel, teacher visits home for the holidays, student excursions, and New Years’ celebrations. Page four included “The Holiday Sociable,” that reported about a beautiful tree-lined interior frolic of games and treats, followed by “The Man-On-the-Band-Stand’s New Year’s Greeting: Good to Paste on One’s Hat to Read Every Day,” a set of six advice-laden maxims and the “Enigma,” and concluded with a “Conundrum.”
