The first page opened with a poem “Selected by Susan Longstreth,” titled “To My Dog ‘Blanco’” by J.G. Holland. The other feature on the first page was an account of “An Indian Girl on a Farm: She Enjoys a Holiday,” that described Adelia Lowe (Sioux) and Frances King’s (Quapaw) trip to Burlington, New Jersey, which continued on the fourth page. Page two reported the summer activities of students both still at school and out at farms, the replacement of the new school building, and encouragement from the Man-on-the-band-stand to study over the summer. Page three included news about the weather, baseball, crokinole, school academics, a potato bug picking contest, a harness made at the school that was exhibited, and general information on summer life on campus. Page four continued the letter from the first page followed by a letter to the Carlisle Indian School from the Principal of the McDougall Orphanage and Training Institution for Indian youth in western Canada, comparing the two institutions.
