Richard Henry Pratt responds to a letter from Mark D. Evarts asking for his money held by Pratt. Pratt notes that he is holding onto the money due to the fact that Evarts has been spending his money quickly and that he should be increasing his savings rather than diminishing them. After receiving the letter from Office of Indian Affairs he had Evarts surroundings investigated and found that he had a bad companion who likely encouraged him to write his letter to the Department. He further notes that Evarts has since come back and is in better health than usual and he has made arrangements for him to be looked after by the YMCA. Pratt ends by asking the Commissioner to advise Evarts to focus on saving his money and to be careful in his choice of associates.
