Student file of Roger Silas, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on June 22, 1888 and ultimately departed on March 12, 1895. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, former student response postcards, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Silas attended the Martinsburg School prior to Carlisle. He was a carpenter and farmer in West De Pere, Wisconsin in 1910, working for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad Co. and learning to be a machinist in Tomah, Wisconsin in 1913, and farming in West De Pere, Wisconsin, in 1914.
