The file indicates that Powlas was a farmer in the Indian Service in the Oklahoma territory, a store clerk in West Depere, Wisconsin in 1907, a teacher in West Depere, Wisconsin in 1910 and 1911, a teacher in Pine Ridge, South Dakota in 1912, and a teacher in Manderson, South Dakota in 1914.
