Alice E. Powlas Student File

Student file of Alice E. Powlas, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on September 21, 1890, graduated in 1901, and departed on March 20, 1901. The file contains a student information card, a former student response postcard, correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Powlas attended the Haskell Institute after leaving school, was a housewife in Sisseton, South Dakota in 1907, was living in Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1910 and 1911, and was a housekeeper in Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1913.

In school documentation Alice E. Powlas' name is also spelled Alice Powlas and Alice E. Powless. She has two married names. Her first married name is Alice Baine (Mrs. William Baine) and her married name upon remarriage is Alice Powlas Sianz or Alice P. Sianz (Mrs Antonio G. Sianz).

Note: Information in other records shows Powlas first entered the school on September 21, 1890 and departed on June 17, 1895. Her initial stay at the school in not documented in this file.
