The file also mentions that he was the grandson of Watson F. Hammond, the first Native American to sit in the Massachusetts State Legislature.
In school documentation Alfred DeGrasse's name is also spelled Alfred De Grasse, Alfred DeGrass, Alfred L. DeGrasse, and Alfred L. De Grasse. In one instance he is also known as Albert DeGrass.
