Note: If the interpretation of the handwritten caption is correct, it is not clear who Little Chief is. There was a student named Little Chief, but he left the school in 1880. This photograph may document a later visit of a Cheyenne chief named Little Chief (documented in the student newspaper).

On one copy of the image they are identified as, left to right: William Butcher, Benajah Miles, Paul Boynton, Richard Davis, Samuel Townsend, Cyrus Fell Star, Chester Cornelius, Benjamin Thomas, Henry North, and Yamie Leeds. 

There are no records for a student named Cyrus Fell Star (identified as Sioux). He may be Cyrus Windy. 

The Cumberland County Historical Society has at least two copies of this image: BS-CH-034 and CS-CH-079.

A handwritten caption along the side of the image probably reads: Juan Antonio Chama. What appears to be a date is also written along the side. It seems to be "3/79" but Chama didn't arrive until 1884, so that isn't possible.
