Attempt to Quarter or Give Raises to Employees who Live Off-Campus

Date
May 12, 1914 - July 6, 1914

Supervisor in Charge of the Carlisle Indian School Oscar H. Lipps provides a list of employees that do not have quarters at the school and therefore have to rent or own their own living spaces in the town of Carlisle. He informs the Commissioner of Indian Affairs that many of these employees cannot afford their living expenses on their current salaries.

Lipps provides another list of full names and positions of employees that rent homes in Carlisle and requests that several of them receive pay raises. Commissioner Cato Sells recommends that these employees be given quarters on school grounds rather than increasing their salaries.
