Manus Screamer Student File

Student file of Manus Screamer, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on April 5, 1898, and ultimately departed on January 17, 1908. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains newspaper clippings, student information cards, photographs, a business card, correspondence, a trade record card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicates that he was working as a printer in Asheville, North Carolina, in 1910. The file indicates that Screamer married fellow student Nannie Saunooke at the school, in a ceremony directed by Reverend G. M. Diffenderfer, was living in Asheville, North Carolina in 1909, working as a printer and was a musician in his own orchestra in Ashville, North Carolina in 1910 and 1911.

In school documentation Manus Screamer is also known as Albert M. Screamer.
