Levi St. Cyr Student File

Student file of Levi St. Cyr, a member of the Winnebago Nation, who entered the school on August 5, 1887, graduated in 1891, and ultimately departed on June 30, 1893. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains photographs, student information cards, returned student surveys, news clippings, a report after leaving, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates St. Cyr was a member of the band at Carlisle, an assistant printer and foreman at the Carlisle Indian School from 1891 to 1899, an assistant clerk and acting interpreter at the Winnebago Indian Agency in Winnebago, Nebraska in 1907, leasing clerk at the Winnebago Agency in Winnebago, Nebraska in 1910, and was appointed overseer of Indian Employment at Garden City, Kansas.

In school documentation Levi St. Cyr's name is also spelled Levi M. St. Cyr and Levy St. Cyr.
