James Seweyea Student File

Student file of James Seweyea, a member of the Queres Nation, who entered the school on August 24, 1884 and ultimately departed on September 17, 1890. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, letters/correspondence about Seweyea's life in New Mexico, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicates Seweyea was working as a farmer in Laguna, New Mexico in 1917.

Seweyea is listed as a member of the Queres Nation on his first student information card, but the student information card used for Seweyea's return to Carlisle lists him as a member of the Pueblo Nation.

In school documentation James Seweyea's name is also spelled James Sewegea and James Seyoeyea. He is also known as James Tekeoumi and T. Seweyea James.
