Drupal Error

Our website runs on an open source software called Drupal. Ever since an upgrade to the software last year, there is an annoying glitch that sometimes happens (but not always, and not consistently) when clicking on links to PDF and JPG files.

From a page like this one: https://carlisleindian.dickinson.edu/student_files/luther-standing-bear-kills-plenty-student-file

When you click on the PDF link to “Read Documents,” you should get this: https://carlisleindian.dickinson.edu/sites/default/files/docs-ephemera/NARA_1327_b060_f3019_0.pdf

But sometimes, the computer inserts an extra bit of code that breaks the link, leaving you instead with this: https://carlisleindian.dickinson.edu/index.php/sites/default/files/docs-ephemera/NARA_1327_b060_f3019_0.pdf

The part in bold is the problem. So if you ever click a link and get the “requested page could not be found” error message, look for that “index.php/” string in the middle of the URL. If you remove those 10 characters from the URL, you should be able to access the PDF or JPG file that you are interested in.

Please email us if you have any questions!
