This issue opened with a poem titled “STAND FOR THE RIGHT,” followed by “AN INTERESTING LETTER FROM PETER POWLAS (Oneida), A RETURNED PUPIL.” Mr. Standing gave a report on the crop conditions in Indian Territory and a piece called “Home Politeness,” about the importance of good manners which continued on the fourth page. Page two included short items that gave behavioral, trade and farm advice; reports about students, visitors, and faculty; and an admonishment to the Cheyennes and Arapahoes by the Man-on-the-band-stand not to only do good work in fair weather as evidenced by two recent runaways.
Page three listed many short notices about school activities that included the comings and goings of faculty, staff, recruiters, picnickers, building progress on the new gymnasium and assembly room, Sunday School convention attendees, and “Camp News.” Page four opened with “Some Gymnastic Advice,” reprinted from the Pittsburgh Dispatch,” that encouraged physical training. Also on that page was “A BIBLE PUZZLE,” followed by the “QUESTION BOX,” that answered the question: Please explain the expression Man-on-the-band-stand.”
