Issue nine, continues Roman Nose’s story, showing him attending Hampton School and eventually traveling to Lee, Ma. This issue’s editorial featured a piece on the hopes that the new U.S. President Garfield will put all Indian children in school. On the same page Robert W. Stewart (Creek) wrote about George Washington’s birthday. A bit about Almarine McKellop (Creek) attending Dickinson College, and a letter from Ben Marshall (Creek) to the Indian Journal Muskogee I.T. was featured on the third page. The fourth page has an article by Michael Burns (Apache) on the geography of the world, and how there are bigger cities and nations out there than America. Luther Standing Bear (Sioux) wrote on his visit to Baltimore and advocated for Indian children to work hard in school to be more like the mayor of Baltimore that he saw.
