The first page opened with a poem, “Good Advice,” followed by a fictional account of a conversation titled “Two Carlisle Boys at Pine Ridge Talk Over the Sioux Bill,” in which two former students, Zack and Tim, discuss the merits of signing the Severalty Act which had been presented to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. It concluded on the fourth page. Page two featured news of former students returned to their agencies, students on outing, the marriage of William Brown and Lizzie Dubray (Sioux students) at the Rosebud Agency, Apache Mike (Patterson) who attempted to stop a train while at camp, a teacher’s admonition not to send “A Silly Note” by reprinting the love letter, a “Dropped Syllables” puzzle and other advice. The third page included teacher activities, school news as the term opened, a report that classes would be held in the gym, small boys’ quarters and chapel until the new building was ready, the installation of a high fence around the school grounds, the ending of summer camp near Hunter’s Run, the marriage of Cleaver Warden (Arapaho) at the Cheyenne Agency and Outing Reports. Page four concluded the discussion between Zack and Tim at Beef Issue Day who both decided to sign the Severalty Bill.
