This folder includes a few letters related to whether or not Dennison Wheelock was a government employee.
One pair of letters from 1910 is between Wheelock and staff of the Office of Indian Affairs. Wheelock asks to be appointed as the "Supervisor of Indian Land Sales." In his reply, the Second Assistant Commissioner of Indian Affairs says that is not possible.
The second pair of letters is from 1919. It is between a congressional representative and the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and clarifies that Wheelock is not an employee of the Indian Service.
Note: upon request of Wheelock's official personnel folder from the National Archives in St. Louis, these documents were what were located. (No records connected to Wheelock's employment at Carlisle were found.)
