              July 24 - August 8, 1899
          J. D. Sowerby (teacher) sends a letter to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs requesting he direct A. J. Standing (acting superintendent) to pay him for the remaining 5-days leave of absence for making the trip to Round Valley, California. Sowerby received orders to report to Round Valley immediately on July 6, and he requested an extension for the transfer. A. J. Standing only pays Sowerby for twenty-one days and refused to him for the last five days of the trip because Sowerby took his vacation first instead of directly reporting to the Round Valley School.
