Richard Henry Pratt responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding a request from Sophia Lacey to enroll her children at the Carlisle Indian School. Pratt notes that if the children are eligible then he would be glad to enroll them as well as arrange transportation. Pratt further states that many students from this area "are so nearly white as to call in question their rights to the benefits of the school under our appropriation" and that some of these students "have been recalled by their parents, their coming having been without the consent of their parents."
