John B. Harlow, the Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission, forwards to the Secretary of the Interior a list of three women (Lida C. Sabin, Elvira S. Lemmon, Florence E. Hunnewell) who are eligible to fill the vacant assistant matron position at the Carlisle Indian School. The assistant matron must be a single woman over 30 years old. The list includes the candidates' names, addresses, and their civil service exam grades. Acting Secretary Thomas Ryan refers the list to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
