J. George Wright, U.S. Indian Agent for the Rosebud Agency, responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding obtaining students for the Carlisle Indian School. Wright indicates that he has difficultly obtaining students with almost all students failing physicals due to influenza. He further states the past history of students having died in the East or having become ill makes securing new students difficult.
Wright then suggests the current Carlisle Indian School physician, Fordyce Grinnell, come to the agency since he was previously the agency physician and could make recommendations based on knowledge of who could survive in the East.
